Epidemic prevention work is going well in the quake-hit Yushu, northwest China's Qinghai Province, as medical staff and disease control experts intensified their efforts to remove epidemic risks, a Chinese health official said on Friday.

A total of 308 disease control professionals, divided in 19 teams, were conducting disinfections in quake survivors' tents, monitoring water quality and epidemics such as plague, and spreading health information among the quake survivors, Liang Wannian, director with the emergency office of the Health Ministry, told a press conference held by the State Council's Information Office.

According to Liang, more than 6,600 tents in the quake area had been disinfected, and food and water quality secured in most part of the quake zone.

Liang said the disease control experts in the quake zone would focus on searching and environmently-friendly disposals of the dead livestock and other animals.
