China has obtained the core technologies to build a full scope simulator for large nuclear power plant, Changjiang Daily reported recently.

A full scope simulator of the control room of a nuclear power plant is used for the training of future operators in a safe way.

The developed software in a computer will allow operators to experience simulated real-time environment of equipment, streams, function blocks, controllers and graphical displays in future operations.

Nuclear experts believe that up to 70 percent of safety problems in nuclear power plants occur to the human errors.

Currently, nuclear power plant operators need to go through extensive training before starting work. However, large nuclear powers monopolize simulator-making technology. China thus has to import simulators for its nuclear power plants.

Recently, however, China Nuclear Power Operation Technology Corporation Ltd upgraded a scope simulator for the Qinshan nuclear power plant in the third period with its own technologies.

Expert Fan Mingwu and other Chinese scientists agreed that the simulation technologies of the corporation will help China build its own full scope simulators for nuclear power plants.

According to an agreement, the corporation will provide necessary equipment for the Fangjiashan and Fuqing nuclear power plants.
