Shandong, China's largest agricultural exporter

In 2011, Shandong province ranked first in agricultural exports among provinces in China for the eleventh straight year.

Agricultural product exports exceeded US$ 15 billion in 2011, hitting an all-time high, according to the provincial department of agriculture.

Shandong's volume of agricultural import and export trade reached US$ 33.96 billion in 2011, rising 35.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Exports rose by 21 percent to US$15.37 billion and imports rose by 50.4 percent to US$18.59 billion.

Shandong is a major agricultural province in China. Major exports include seafood and marine products, vegetables, fruits, meat, peanuts and peanut products.

Japan is the largest importer of Shandong foodstuffs, followed by the European Union, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), South Korea and the U.S.
