Tourist resorts in Dongying city, Shandong province, hosted 205,400 tourists over the three-day Labor Day holiday, up 20.8 percent compared to the same period last year, raking in 60.765 million yuan (US$9.63 million) in tourism revenue.
In the Yellow River Estuary Eco-tourist zone in the city, willows waved in the wind, reeds turned fresh green, 10,000 wild ducks floated, and white and black swans swam gracefully on the broad lake. Visitors gasped with admiration at the fascinating scenery of the natural wetland.
"I have heard of the special scenery here, but this is the first time I have been able to enjoy the sights. The confluence of the river and sea brings the feeling of vigorousness, a forest of oil drilling platforms is a unique scene and huge number of birds flocking together are quite spectacular," a visitor from Beijing said.
"A vast extent of land, the tremendous momentum of the Yellow River and beautiful birds are impressive. I will let my friends know after I'm back that Dongying is a land of wonders," said a visitor from Singapore.
