The third Asian Beach Games is ready to enliven Haiyang, a coastal city of Shandong province, on June 16.
With its opening ceremony to kick off on June 16, more than 1,600 athletes from 45 countries and regions will compete in 13 sports, including beach soccer, cliff climbing, windsurfing, powered paragliding, beach volleyball and beach basketball.
The torch relay will be held during June 12 to 14 with 162 torch bearers passing in 3 cities, including Jinan, capital of Shandong, Yantai and Haiyang.
Haiyang is one of the most attractive places in China for beach sports and vacationing due to its 230 kilometers of coastline which includes more than 60km of sandy beaches.
As one of five major multi-sport galas in Asia, the biennial competition was held in 2008 in Bali, Indonesia for the first time and the second was in Muscat, Oman.
