After a month of fasting, thousands of Muslims in Shandong Province are attending mosques to celebrate the end of Ramadan, Aug. 19, 2012.

From early morning, they have gathered at the mosque to take part in the major Muslim festival. Worshippers will take part in religious prayers and hear imams preach.

Ramadan, a festival of fasting and spiritual reflection, falls in the ninth month of the Muslim calendar, during which Muslims abstain from eating, drinking and smoking between sunrise and sunset.
