As the trial region for the adjustment of the steel industry structure, Shandong province is set to carry out a massive reorganization of its steel enterprises, according to the website of the National Development and Reform Commission.

According to the objectives of this restructuring, 21 existing steel enterprises will be reorganized into 6 before 2015, and the gross production capacity of steel in the province will be adjusted from 63.07 million tons to 50 million tons.

Mergers and reorganizations of enterprises are important parts of the pilot program for the reorganization of the steel industry in the province.
