Jinan intent on saving water

The Jinan City 2013 National Urban Water Awareness Week started in Daming Lake Zhengyi Piazza on the morning of May 12.

Jinan is one of the 110 cities that suffer water shortage. The city would set more stringent regulations to save water in 2013, according to the Water Saving Office.

"The recycling rate of industrial water in urban cities has to reach more than 95.8 percent this year,the recycling rate of industrial water in urban The water consumption should decrease to 10.5 cubic meters."

The total consumption of water will be kept at around 310 million cubic meters this year, and the total amount of water to be saved annually will be 25 million cubic meters, which is equivalent to the amount of water of 21 Daming Lakes.

To reach the water-saving targets, a representative of the Water Saving Office said that the focus this year would be to create water-saving enterprises, construct water-saving demonstration gardens, strengthen water conservation on college campuses, and strictly implement reclaimed water facilities to ensure compliance.
