Mountains and forest surround Rushan City, which makes it an eco-friendly location.

In September 2011, the local government of Rushan decided to conduct a comprehensive reconstruction of the Century Avenue by planting red sumacs, red maples, cherries, lilac flowers, and shrubs like hibiscus and crape myrtle.

Rushan City was covered by 14.68 million square meters of plants by the end of 2012, with a coverage rate of 43.13 percent.

The sweeping and cleaning rate of the 3.8 million square meters of the streets of Rushan City can reach a 100 percent.

The garbage is cleared every day and instantly landfilled, and the rate of timely transportation can also reach a 100 percent.

Rushan has gone through 20 years of transformation. The city has received awards such as the "National Garden City", "National Advanced City with Comprehensive Environmental Improvement", and "Garden City of Shandong Province.”
