Shandong province has made a three-phase plan to improve the air quality by 50 percent within eight years as it was in 2010 by authorities.

Meeting the target will help provide decent air quality in the most densely populated area of Shandong.

In order to reach the target in 2020, Shandong will implement "Shandong Regional Discharge Standard of Air Pollutants" and five discharge standards for regional industries.

The current air quality of Shandong doesn't meet the public's expectation; and the unreasonable energy structure is the main reason behind air pollution.
