Guo Shuqing was elected governor of Shandong Province on June 5 during the second session of the 12th Shandong Provincial People's Congress, the local legislative body.

Guo, 57, served as chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission for one and a half years before being appointed vice secretary of the Shandong provincial committee of the Communist Party of China in mid-March.

He was appointed acting governor of Shandong Province on March 29 at the first meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th Shandong Provincial People's Congress.
