A restored pavilion hope was reopened June 3 in Liaocheng City, Shangdong Province.

The pavilion, located near Dong Chang Old Gate Tower, is part of a four-street commercial district in Liaocheng City. The adjoining “Handicraft Specialty Street” is dedicated to local craftsmanship, including calabash carving and paper-cut and clay sculpture.

The pavilion, which was decorated with festival lanterns for the recent Lantern Festival, is also home to a statue of Guan Yu. City planners and residents say they hope the pavilion’s restoration will speak to their city’s creativity and culture.
