The construction of the Yantai botanical garden will be completed at the end of 2014, according to the Urban Management Bureau of Laishan District. Visitors will be able to enjoy a sea of lavender flowers without going to Provence.

The garden will also have ancient trees. The 100 ancient trees donated by Chulan village are between 200 to 400 years old, said Li Pengyuan, the deputy director of the Urban Management Bureau of Laishan District. Since the diameter of most trunks is longer than 60 centimeters, the trees have research, ecological and ornamental values. In the future, there will be an educational base for wild plants as well as a central exhibition of ancient trees in Yantai.
