The first artificial fish shelter in Weifang

The first artificial fish shelter of Weifang was put into use. Weifang Longwei Corporation established this shelter with an investment of 22 million yuan.

The construction, located near the north bank of the Jiaolai river mouth, is made of 50 thousand cubic meters of rock, 20 thousand cubic meters of shell reef and 40 thousand cubic meters of cement pipe. Besides, 100 Quebec cockles, 120 juvenile black breams and 5 tons of sea cucumber were put into the water.

The construction of artificial fish shelters is an important way to improve the habitat marine animals. The first artificial fish shelter of Weifang aims to protect marine biology, increase fishery resources and promote related industries such as aquaculture and tourism, which will, in the long run, generate economic, social and ecological benefits.
