College students keen on 3D design gathered in Qingdao on October 20, to vie with their counterparts from 44 Shandong-based universities.

From October 19 to 20, 53 crafts were chosen from 335 works to enter the upcoming national final.

The Automatic Plastic Bottle Paid Recycler designed by Team Highyoung from Ocean University of China attracted widespread attention from citizens and experts. A dime coin will automatically fall out when the unscrewed lid touches the sensor. "The machine can raise people's environmental awareness of recycling plastic bottles." Wang Xinbao, a team member, said.

A floating pendulum-wave generator-set designed by Ocean University of China can lighten up the sea at night powered by the constant wobble of the waves, which can even supply the beacons with power.

The "Spiderman in a Chinese version" was invented based on spiders, able to conquer complicated terrains and take immediate action in emergencies. As Nie Xin, one of the designers from China University of Petroleum, described, the device can secure rescuers when searching for victims.

The National 3D Competition has been successfully held for five years in a row now, containing eight aspects, including engineering and digital presentation.
