Shandong sets 2014 tourism growth targets

Most recently, the Shandong Tourism Administration has set its objectives and priorities in tourism for 2014, including the optimization of tourism market conditions, the perfecting of tourist service facilities, improvements in the tourist ecological system and enhancing customers’ satisfaction.

Other goals include maintaining a steady and rapid growth of the tourist economy, promoting the healthy and orderly development of the industry, receiving 590 million person times with a growth rate of 8.5 percent, receiving inbound tourists at a rate of 4.5 million person times, including 3.2 million overnight stays, and achieving the total tourism revenue of 580 billion yuan with a growth rate of 12 percent.

Reports have stated that Shandong Province will amend the “Regulations on Tourism of Shandong Province,” in order to introduce a batch of provincial tourism industry standards, establish a fairer and more open market and expand non-governmental investment.

In addition, the Shandong Tourism Administration will submit proposal for financial help, and establish a provincial tourism investment company in the first half of this year.
