Shandong to build 15 provincial leisure sea fishing bases

The Shandong Department of Ocean and Fisheries recently put forward the objectives and working methods of the provincial level leisure sea fishing development.

It plans to build 15 provincial level leisure sea fishing demonstrative bases across the coastal areas of Qingdao, Yantai, Weihai and Rizhao over the next two years.

Upon completion, the bases will be able to receive about 200,000 person-times of sea fishing tourists annually.

Three national competitions and eight provincial competitions in sea fishing will be held annually to highlight marine tourism in Shandong.

In 2014, it planned to put in 65,500 m3 of ecotype artificial fish reef in the provincial level leisure sea fishing demonstrative bases, add 4,000 hectares of artificial fish reef fish ground, hold three provincial competitions and receive 70,000 person-times of sea fishing tourists.

According to the 2014 construction scheme of the leisure sea fishing demonstrative bases, the working methods include putting in ecotype artificial fish reefs, investing 9.52 million yuan to release 10.25 million fishes, building provincial standard fishing boats, landscaping the coastline and providing catering and rescue services.
