Former prison site at Potala Palace draws visitors

With the Serfs Emancipation Day drawing near, more and more come to visit the site of the former Zhol City prison at the foot of the Potala Palace, where are displayed a large number of objects, photographs and sculptures showing the darkness of the old Tibetan feudal serf system and the sufferings of the serfs.

There are 25 instruments for cruel torture on display at the prison site such as handcuffs, fetters, stone caps, thin bamboo sticks for nails, knives for cutting hands and feet, spoon for gouging eyes, whips, etc.
