Sniffer dog's lament for the dead
Adjust font size:

Sniffer dogs from the fire department of Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province. One trainer related a strange and moving incident. After traveling miles to a quake-hit area, "the moment the dogs got off the bus, they ran forward and began rooting through rubble the rescue team had already checked. One of the dogs crouched over a pile of rocks and started wailing, a signal there were people underneath. We pulled out two bodies," said the officer. "Sniffer dogs are trained to find survivors and ignore the dead. But this time, it was as if this intelligent animal was mourning the dead and wanted us to find them."
