Thirty-three roads in China's quake-hit Sichuan Province remained blocked after the May 12 earthquake, said Li Chengyun, vice governor of Sichuan on Friday.

"Workers are still rushing against time to repair 33 damaged roads, which lead to townships and villages in the worst-hit area, although truck roads to county-level cities have been reopened for traffic," said Li at the press conference held by the Information Office under the State Council.

The official said the mountains have been shaken loose in the earthquake and more than 7,000 aftershocks, which caused frequent landslides that blocked roads and rivers.

He said that a basic recovery of traffic infrastructure damaged in the province would take three years.

He added that power supply has not reached five of the 1,307 townships, which have suffered blackout since the earthquake. But telecommunications have been basically restored in the province.
