The Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) announced on Friday that it donates 1,895 tents to China's earthquake-hit Sichuan Province.

The largest Malaysian Chinese political party said that the tents worth 200,000 ringgit (62,300 U.S. dollars) could accommodate more than 10,160 people and would be sent to the disaster-struck regions soon.

MCA said that it purchased these tents from a local firm shortly after learning that China's earthquake-struck regions urgently need these goods for shelter.

MCA said that it has been calling its members to make donation to China's earthquake-hit regions.

MCA also said that it so far has collected a total of 530,000 ringgit (165,000 U.S. dollars) which would be transferred to the quake-hit regions through China's embassy here.

Earlier this month, MCA handed over a cash donation totaling 330,000 ringgit (103,000 U.S. dollars) to help disaster relief in China.
