Top legislator visits quake zone

Top legislator Wu Bangguo Monday visited and expressed sympathy and solicitude for people injured in the deadly May 12 earthquake in Sichuan Province.

 

China's top legislator Wu Bangguo visits Li Kecheng, a 55-year-old survivor who was saved after being buried in the rubble for 108 hours, in a hospital in Chengdu on May 26, 2008.

China's top legislator Wu Bangguo visits Yuan Yi, a girl of 20 who was saved after being buried in the rubble for 104 hours, in a hospital in Chengdu on May 26, 2008.

He specially visited four wounded, being treated in a local hospital, who were rescued after having been buried in quake debris for more than 100 hours.

He then went to the Chengdu Railway Station and saw over the transportation of disaster relief goods.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, arrived in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, Monday afternoon to direct disaster relief work.
