Donations to quake-hit areas exceed 42 bln yuan

As of Tuesday noon, donations from home and abroad to China's quake-hit regions had reached 42.36 billion yuan (about 6.1 billion U.S. dollars), up 620 million yuan from the previous day, according to the Information Office of the State Council.

So far, 12.1 billion yuan, in cash and relief materials, had been forwarded to the earthquake-affected areas, the office said.
