An exhibition on Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925) was launched Tuesday at the former residence of Sun's wife Soong Ching Ling (1893-1981), to commemorate the 100th anniversary of China's 1911 Revolution.

The residence in downtown Beijing was repurposed as a public memorial site and museum after Soong passed away in 1981.

The residence holds over 320 of Sun's possessions. More than 110 items, including Sun's private seal and pistol, were included in this exhibition. Nearly half of the items on display were made public for the first time.

Besides showing Sun's experience leading the great revolution, the exhibition also sheds light on the couple's marriage. Photos of their wedding and daily life, letters and Sun's various testaments were also included in the exhibition. Some items had been lent out to a joint exhibition running a similar theme in Taipei earlier this year.Sun was the founder of the Kuomintang and led the history-making 1911 revolution which ended imperial rule in China.
