Top Chinese political advisor Jia Qinglin on Friday visited a classical art exhibition commemorating the centennial anniversary of the 1911 Xinhai Revolution.

Selected works of He Xiangning, a renowned artist-turned-social activist and political figure, were displayed at the exhibition held at China Art Gallery.

A total of 38 paintings were exhibited along with some historical documents depicting He's important role in Chinese contemporary art history and her prominent contributions to revolution in China.

He Xiangning made great contributions to the establishment of New China in 1949, as well as the country's construction and unity, said Jia, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

The show will run from Sept. 16 to 26 in Beijing. It will later be moved to Wuhan, a city in central China's Hubei Province.
