Uygur separatists doomed to failure
Adjust font size:

The attempts of the World Uygur Congress to split the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region from China is doomed to failure, says an article on Xinhua News Agency website. Excerpt:

Many people might not have even heard of WUC (World Uygur Congress) before the July 5 riots in Urumqi. But after its war cries and violent actions, its nature and intentions have become crystal clear. While shouting crazy slogans such as "be brave" and "do something shocking", WUC members killed and injured innocent people, destroyed property, and went on a looting and arson spree. Even women and children were not spared. They were brutal acts of insane people,

WUC's aim is to split Xinjiang from our country. But its efforts are bound to fail because of the historical multi-ethnic bond that binds China, where ethnic groups have been sharing their joys and sorrows for centuries.

The ethnic bond that ties our country has a solid base. The common wish of all our citizens is to maintain ethnic solidarity and national unity, pursue economic development, and ensure social safety and stability. This bond and the national feeling will ensure WUC's evil designs are defeated.

We should understand WUC's evil nature and guard against its separatist moves. And we should be prepared to crack down on these evil forces and foil their separatist attempts both at home and abroad to realize the long-term development of China.
