A Letter to overseas students in Hubei

Dear overseas students,
Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP), the Chinese government, under the direct leadership of President Xi Jinping, has acted in a highly responsible manner to the Chinese people and the international community and taken the most strict and thorough measures to combat the epidemic. Through hard work, the epidemic has been put under control with an increasing cure rate. By February 16, a total of 9,419 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, 5,623 of whom were in Hubei. We have both the confidence and capability to win the battle.
The CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Hubei Provincial People’s Government are deeply concerned about overseas students’ well-being. Your safety and health always come first. The provincial and municipal foreign affairs offices and the higher learning institutions have taken prompt measures under the directions of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Hubei Provincial People’s Government and set up special work teams in order to protect you from the epidemic and ensure your safety and health. We are sorry for any inconvenience these measures may have caused. The local governments and universities are doing their level best to help you with your daily life and study.
Dear students, difficulties are only temporary. The epidemic is a matter of concern to everyone. Every individual has the responsibility to do their part in preventing the epidemic. We will always stand by your side. As long as we work together and take proper precautions, we will be able to win the battle against the epidemic.
Please tell your family and friends how the Chinese government has worked and sacrificed in the combat and how the local governments and universities have supported and helped you during this special time. Keeping them informed of the situation helps them to be more assured of your well-being.

湖北省委、省政府十分关心在湖北的留学生，始终把同学们的生命安全和身体健康放在首位。为了保护您的生命和健康安全，积极做好疫情防控，在省委省政府统一安排部署下，省市外办和各高校迅速行动，成立外国留学生防疫工作专班，采取了积极有效的防控措施。这些防控措施给同学们带来了一些不便，对此我们深感歉意，各地各高校也在尽最大努力保障你们的生活和学习。
亲爱的同学们，请相信，困难只是暂时的，配合做好疫情防控工作，关乎到我们每一个人的利益，也是我们每个人都应尽的责任和义务。我们会始终陪伴在同学们的身边，只要我们同舟共济、科学防治，就一定能够取得这场疫情防控斗争的全面胜利。
