The Israeli public will have a great opportunity to closely "experience China" as a Chinese cultural month is to be held in October in Israel, Zhang Xiao'an, charged affaires of the Chinese embassy in Israel, announced Monday at a press conference in Tel Aviv.

The event, "Experience China in Israel", will show the development of China in many domains: education, economy, technology and especially the Chinese contemporary culture.

The activities are expected to "allow the Israelis to see Chinese culture and China's development and achievements during the past 60 years," Zhang told Xinhua.

Jointly held by the State Council Information Office of China and the Embassy of China in Israel, the event is dedicated to mark the 60th anniversary of establishment of People's Republic of China and the 17th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Israel.

As part of the event, performances by Beijing Modern Dance Company and China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe will be staged and there will be photo exhibitions and a film week.

Besides, a symposium on China, Israel and world economy will also be held during the cultural month.

"It is a great opportunity to expose China to Israelis, and to develop the relationship (between the two countries) in a very strong way," said Stanley Morais, a manager of the El Al Israel Airlines, the sponsor of the event.

Since 1999, China has held the event of "Experience China" in many countries including Germany, the United States, Russia, and South Korea to promote cultural exchanges.
