January 8 US President Harry S. Truman gives the State of the Union Address, insisting on the invading action and intensifying armaments expansion and war preparations.

January 21 The Chinese People's Volunteer Army Air Force joins the Korean War and launches the first aerial duel.

January 22 The Chinese People's Volunteer Army and Korean People's Army together launch the 4th campaign, repulsing the attacks of the enemy.

January 30 Representatives of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army come back to home to report on their military actions in Korea.

February 15 The 19th army of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army enters Korea to fight the enemy.

Mid-March China and Korea talk about the joint operations of the air forces.

March 31 The armored battalion command post of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army is formed.

April 6 The Chinese People's Volunteer Army Party Committee holds an enlarged session to plan and deploy the fifth campaign.

June 19 The 20th army of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army joins the war to fight allied invaders.

July 10 The truce talks begin in Kaesong.

July 20 Korea suffers serious flood disaster.

July 26 The two sides reach an agreement on the truce talk agenda. Later, because of the unreasonable demand raised by the US, the armistice negotiation runs into deadlock.

August 18 The enemy launches the Summer Offensive and the Chinese People's Volunteer Army and the Korean People's Army enter into the defensive stage.

August 22 American aircraft bombs the residence of Chinese negotiation representatives and our side announces to suspend the truce talks.

August 28 The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decides to make October 25 the anniversary of the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army.

September 20 The air force of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army formally participate the campaign to defend the transportation lines.

September 29 The enemy launches the Autumn Offensive and the Chinese People's Volunteer Army and the Korean People's Army go into the defensive period.

October 25 The truce talks resume in Panmunjon

October 29 The Chinese People's Volunteer Army and the Korean People's Army intensify the defensive deployment in the Kaesong area.

November 5 The Chinese People's Volunteer Army and the Korean People's Army begin the Islands Campaign.
