Farmers' Income Rises by 6.2% in 2005

China's top statistician Li Deshui said in Beijing on Wednesday the per capita net income of rural residents amounted to 3,255 yuan (US$403.7) in 2005, a real growth of 6.2 percent, or 0.6 percentage points lower that in the previous year.

Meanwhile, the per capita disposable income of urban residents is 10,493 yuan, a real growth of 9.6 percent after deducting price factors, or 1.9 percentage points higher than that in 2004, Li, director of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), told a press conference held by the Information Office of the State Council.

Li said the country's savings deposits of residents came to 14.1 trillion yuan, an increase of 2.1 trillion yuan compared with the beginning of 2005.

At the same time, the registered urban unemployment rate stood at 4.2 percent at the end of 2005, remaining at the same level as in the previous year.
