Traffic Accident Kills 2, Injures 33 in Chongqing

Two people were killed and at least 33 others were injured in a 14-vehicle pileup Wednesday afternoon in Chongqing, a municipality in southwest China.

The local police source said the accident took place at around 4:30 PM on the Yongchuan section of the expressway linking Chongqing with Chengdu, capital of neighboring Sichuan Province.

The accident happened when the area was hit by a heavy rainstorm, witnesses said.

Investigation into the cause of the pileup is already underway.
