Shanghai Launches Bribery Crackdown
Adjust font size:

The city government will launch stronger efforts to deal with commercial bribery, officials announced at a news conference yesterday.

Officials said the city had already set up a body to lead the campaign to uncover and investigate commercial bribery.

Officials said the anti-commercial bribery campaign would have four major focuses.

First, it would focus on digging into suspected unfair transactions that are closely related to public welfares.

Second, transactions in the areas of construction programs, land trading, government purchases as well as resource exploitation and trading, would receive extra attention.

Third, government departments with considerable powers would be more closely supervised.

Fourth, officials said they would make efforts to uncover state-agency personnel involved in commercial activities using their power to make illegal profits.
