Zhejiang: Infant Suffocated in Evacuation Attempt

A seven-month-old infant was accidentally suffocated by his grandmother as she rushed to carry the child to safety after a shed collapsed on a construction site in Zhejiang Province.

The grandmother clutched the infant to her chest too tightly when she fled the scene of the accident, in which a man and a woman were killed by the falling debris.

The accident occurred at 4:25 AM Monday in Changting village in Fenghua city when incessant rain caused a wall to collapse and crush parts of the adjacent shelters. Nineteen people were in the shed when the accident happened.
The three injured workers were sent to hospital and they are reported to be stable, according to local officials.
