Three people were confirmed dead and three others injured when a tower wagon collapsed Wednesday in a power plant in northwest China's Gansu Province.

The accident occurred at 10:40 AM at a workshop under construction in Gangu Power Plant in Tianshui city, the provincial safety watchdog said Thursday.

Investigators said a bearing of the wagon broke, causing the upper section of the equipment to topple over.

The injured workers are being treated at a local hospital and two of them are in critical condition.

The prime contractor of the construction project is No. 1 Construction Engineering Co. Ltd. of Gansu.
