Adjust font size:

A woman was killed after she jumped in front of a subway train in Shanghai on Monday, the second suicide to occur on the city's underground network in less than three weeks.

The incident occurred at 12:44 PM at the Lujiazui stop on the second metro line in the Pudong district in this business hub of China. A man was killed in similar circumstances on January 10.

The metro service was suspended for only seven minutes.

Local metro authorities said they plan to increase security and install glass doors on the platform, which can only open when the train pulls in.
