Three Killed, 8 Injured in Road Accident in Hubei

Three people including a Macao resident were killed and eight others including a Taiwan resident injured in a road accident in central China's Hubei Province on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred at 3:40 AM when a bus with 28 tourists heading for Yichang City from Wuhan, capital of Hubei, bumped into the rear of the truck ahead on the Zhijiang section of the Wuhan-Yichang expressway.

Two passengers aboard the bus including the Macao resident named Mario Akio Kampya were killed on the spot, and another passenger died of serious injuries after medical efforts failed.

The eight injured persons included a Taiwan resident and a child, according to local police. The truck was damaged but the people aboard were not hurt in the accident.

All the injured people have been moved to hospital.

The bus belongs to a tourism corporation of Wuhan City, according to the provincial expressway administration department.

Investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
