Minor Earthquake Rocks NW China's Xinjiang Region

An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale hit Wuqia County in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at 6:20 AM on Monday, according to the regional earthquake monitoring network.

The epicenter of the quake was located at 74.5 degrees east longitude and 39.4 degrees north latitude, said the network.

No casualties and damages were reported at press time.

Wuqia County is prone to seismic activity.
