Two Missing After Cave-in at Nanjing Subway Construction Site
Adjust font size:

Two people are missing following a cave-in at a construction site of the planned No. 2 subway line in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.

The accident occurred at about 8:00 AM on Monday when 13 workers were consolidating the foundations of a subway station which had been loosened after heavy rain last week.

Five hundred cubic meters of mud poured into the area where the construction workers were carrying out repairs, burying two people.

A rescue team is trying to locate them and safety inspections are underway in other subway construction sites in the city.

In March, a cave-in along a subway line being built for the 2008 Beijing Olympics killed six construction workers.
