Vice Governor of Hainan Resigned from Post

Jiang Zelin, vice governor of China's southernmost island province of Hainan, has resigned for a transfer which is yet to be announced, the provincial government said on Wednesday.

The Hainan Provincial People's Congress, the local legislature, accepted Jiang's resignation at its ongoing annual session later on Wednesday.

Jiang, a native of Anqing City in eastern Anhui Province, obtained a doctoral degree of agricultural economy at the Beijing-based Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1994.

He served as deputy director of Municipal Agricultural Bureau and vice mayor of Sanya City from 1996 to 1998. He was appointed director of Marine & Fishery Department of Hainan Province in 2000 and was elected vice governor of the province in February 2002.
