Wu Xinxiong      

Governor of Jiangxi Province

 

Wu Xinxiong, acting governor of east China's Jiangxi Province, was elected governor of the province by the provincial legislature on January 29, 2007.

 

Wu, 58, was elected to the post at the fifth session of the 10th Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress.

 

He was appointed acting governor of the province last October.

 

Wu is a native of Jiangyin City, east China's Jiangsu Province. He joined the CPC in 1979.

 

He received a bachelor's degree of chemistry from the Nanjing University of Technology in 1977.

 

He has served as deputy secretary of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee, deputy governor of the province and secretary of the CPC Nanchang Municipal Committee since January 2003.

 

Wu is an alternate member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
