HK University: English Test Paper Cancelled for Students
Adjust font size:

Chinese mainland students wishing to study at Hong Kong University will no longer be required to sit the university's English test paper. From the start of 2007 students will only require to apply for Hong Kong University and take part in the nation's general university entrance exam.

The move is designed to avoid the students' having to unnecessarily repeat exams and to lighten their heavy study burdens.

Before, in addition to the English test portion of the national entrance exam students pre-recruited by Hong Kong University required to sit an additional English exam conducted by the university.

Hong Kong University will enlarge the number of students recruited from the Chinese mainland to reach 20% of its enrollment or about 500 places.
