Chen Kuiyuan

Chen Kuiyuan, a native of Kangping, Liaoning Province, was born in January 1941. With a university education background, Chen began his career in September 1964 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1965. From 1983-1989, he served as deputy secretary and secretary of the CPC Hulun Buir League Committee of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. From 1989 to 1992, he was a standing committee member of the CPC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee, vice-governor of Inner Mongolia, and secretary of the Work Committee for Institutions of Higher Learning under the CPC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee. Between January-October 1992, he acted as deputy secretary of the CPC Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee, and began serving as secretary of the CPC Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee in October 1992. In August 1995, he was elected secretary of the Fifth CPC Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee, and first secretary of the CPC Committee of the Tibet Regional Military Command at its sixth delegate assembly held in September 1996. He was a member of the 14th CPC Central Committee and deputy to the Eighth National People抯 Congress (NPC), and is a member of the 15th CPC Central Committee and deputy to the Ninth NPC.

On October 16, 2000, Chen was appointed a member, a standing committee member and secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee.
