Wang Lequan, ethnic Han, native of Shouguang, Shandong Province, born in December 1944. Joined the CPC in March 1966 and began working in September 1965. With a postgraduate education at the Central Party School. 
  
Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, secretary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee of the CPC, and first political commissar of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.  
  
1965-1966: Engaged in socialist education in Jiaonan County, Shandong Province  
  
1966-1975: Deputy head of Houzhen Commune, Shouguang County, Shandong Province, member of the Standing Committee of the Houzhen Commune Revolutionary Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Houzhen Commune Committee of the CPC, and deputy secretary of the Chengguan Commune Committee of the CPC
