Wednesday's major agenda for the fifth sessions of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC) and the Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) are as follows:
NPC:
-- To hear a report on the Implementation of the 2001 Plan for National Economic and Social Development and on a Draft 2002 Plan for National Economic and Social Development, given by Zeng Peiyan,minister in charge of the State Development Planning Commission, in the morning;
-- To hear a report on the implementation of the Central and Local Budgets for 2001 and on Draft Central and Local Budgets for 2002, given by Finance Minister Xiang Huaicheng, in the morning;
-- Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan to hold a press conference in the afternoon; and
-- NPC members to deliberate on the two reports in the afternoon.
CPPCC:
-- Members to attend the NPC plenary session in the morning and discuss the two reports in the afternoon.
