Asian Media Reports Annual Sessions of NPC, CPPCC
Media organizations in Vietnam and the Republic of Korea reported on March 6 the convocation of the annual sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top advisory body.

Dan Viet, the Vietnamese Communist Party newspaper, the Quan Doil Nhan Dan, Hanoi Moi, Tuoi Tre, Lao Dong and other major Vietnamese newspapers carried reports on the opening of the annual session of the NPC, highlighting the achievements scored by China in 2001 as announced by Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji in his government work report.

These newspapers also spotlighted China's efforts to expand domestic demand, accelerate agricultural and rural economic development, and increase farmers' incomes, as well as the eight work focuses of the Chinese government for 2002.

All major newspapers in the ROK highlighted in the front page such reports titled "China Puts forward Eight Tasks for Economic Restructuring" and “China Will Energetically Stimulate Domestic Demand."

While reporting the convocation of the annual session of the NPC, they briefed on the main points of the government work report delivered by Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji.

A ROK newspaper, Choson Ilbo, said that via the government work report, Premier Zhu "outlined his idea about this year's economic policy, government restructuring and diplomatic work, while stressing social stability."

A ROK news agency carried out a rolling report of the opening of the annual session of the NPC and gave a detailed report on eliminating extravagancy and waste as pledged by Premier Zhu Rongji in his government work report.
