Xu Mingqiang (English) joined the Foreign Language Press in 1968, promoted through the ranks as translator, vice-director of the English translation office, deputy director, deputy editor-in-chief, and finally editor-in-chief. From 2001 to 2007, he served as president of Cypress Books Company, vice president of China Books Press, and CEO and editor-in-chief of Long River Press. From 2007 to the present, he has been a committee member of CIPG's Topic Design Committee, an editorial board member and consultant at the Foreign Language Press, a committee member of China's Advanced Translator Appraisal Committee, a committee member of the Chinese to English Committee of the Translators Association of China, a part-time professor at the CIPG Training Center and an academic advisor to the English Department of Beijing Normal University.
