Li Chengyu      

Governor of Henan Province

Li Chengyu, of the Hui ethnic group, is a native from Haiyuan County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and was born in August 1946. He graduated from the Party School of the CPC Central Committee. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in August 1971 and began work in December the same year.

Dec. 1971-Jul. 1973: Secretary of the Party Committee of the Zhengqi Commune, Haiyuan County in Ningxia.

Jul. 1973-Dec. 1975: Standing committee member of the Haiyuan County Party Committee, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Zhengqi Commune (He studied in the Cadre Training Department at the Central University for Nationalities from July 1974 to July 1975.)

Dec. 1975-Oct. 1976: Standing committee member of the Haiyuan County Party Committee and secretary of the Lijun Commune Party Committee.

Oct. 1976-Jun. 1978: Standing committee member of the Haiyuan County Party Committee and deputy head of the county's Revolutionary Committee.

Jun. 1978-Sep. 1983: Secretary of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Regional Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC). (During this period, he studied at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee for six months.)

Sep. 1983-Aug. 1985: Li studied on an advanced program for Party officials at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee.

Aug. 1985-May 1988: Deputy secretary of Yinnan Prefectural Party Committee and commissioner of the prefecture in Ningxia.

May 1988-Sep.1992: Vice Chairman of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Regional Government.

Sep. 1992- Aug. 1998: Vice governor of Henan Province.

Aug. 1998-Jan. 2003: Deputy secretary of CPC Henan Provincial Committee, and vice governor of Henan.

Jan. 2003: Governor of Henan.

Li was an alternate member of the CPC Central Committee.
