Dispute over Kindergarten Tuition Fee
Adjust font size:

A newly-opened kindergarten in Nanjing is under fire for its sky-high tuition. Henghai Kindergarten, which offers foreign-language classes, charges parents 100,000 yuan, or US$12,000 for each child every year, according to Shanghai Evening Post.

Teachers at this kindergarten claim English is their teaching language and children can also minor in French or Spanish, which will benefit their future education.

However, many parents doubt it is necessary to teach kids in a foreign language during preschool education.

A commentary in Beijing Youth Daily says parents also worry other kindergartens will follow with high tuition fees. In recent years, some kindergartens have offered special lessons as an excuse to raise tuition fees.
