The Central Military Commission (CMC) is the highest military leading organ of the PRC. It directs the armed forces of the country.
The CMC is composed of the chairman, vice chairmen and members. The chairman of the CMC is elected for the same length of term as that of the NPC, but there is no restriction on his tenure of office.
The armed forces of the PRC are composed of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the Chinese People's Armed Police Force and the militia.
Current CMC chairman is Jiang Zemin. Hu Jintao, Guo Boxiong
and Cao Gangchuan are incumbent vice chairmen. Xu Caihou, Liang Guanglie,
Liao Xilong and Li Jinai are incumbent members of the CMC.
