A 30-episode TV drama called Hong Kong Sisters will be aired on CCTV, China's national broadcaster, to mark the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.

This is the third TV drama about Hong Kong produced by CCTV China Teleplay Production Center.

At a news briefing on Friday in Beijing, the vice director of CCTV China Teleplay Production Center, Li Ting, said it would be broadcasted around July 1, the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.

The plot starts in 1997 and chronicles the next 10 years of two girls who grew up together from different family backgrounds.

After Hong Kong's return to the motherland, the two good friends' lives undergo great changes, reflecting the epitome of Hong Kong's changes in the last 10 years.

Chinese mainland actress Cao Xiwen and Hong Kong actress Cherrie Ying starred in the play.

Jointly produced by CCTV and Guangdong TV, the drama began shooting this January in Guangzhou and Hong Kong. It is expected to finish shooting around April 20.
